Fiona drew from two key elements in her life to create The Pawtastic Pack. The first is her love for dogs and animals! From a young age, Fiona always had dogs in her home. The companionship of dogs would be a constant in Fiona's life, even providing her with vital strength during times of uncertainty. The second factor that contributed to Fiona starting her own pet care business was her background in Social Services. She earned undergraduate and Master's degrees in fields that would help her serve her community, especially those most vulnerable. While investigating homes with abuse and neglect, Fiona quickly realized that it wasn't just humans that were experiencing these unfortunate events; it was often the pets as well. In addition to helping people find safe resources and environments, Fiona made it her personal mission to also help the pets in these harmful environments. Fiona developed safety plans for at least 50 dogs, and she assisted 12 dogs in finding new homes through her personal network.
Now, as the owner of her own pet care business, Fiona combines her purpose of supporting those impacted by trauma and abuse to live a happy, healthy and holistic life. She provides quality holistic services to the pets while providing parents with peace of mind.
The business was created out of pure love for dogs and the owner's desire to provide for dogs the same compassion and care they provided for her. It is the desire of The Pawtastic Pack that they assist pet parents in providing quality care to their dogs by helping both the parent and dog to live a happy, healthy, and holistic life. We are licensed, bonded, and insured, Pet First Aid/CPR Certified, and we are proud members of The International Boarding and Pet Services Association (IBPSA).
It is our promise to you that we will approach every situation with compassion, care, and transparent communication. We will treat your dog as though he/she were part of our family and support the pet parent in having a safe home away from home for their dog. A second home that provides the parent with peace of mind and the ability to live the well-rounded life that they desire. We not only provide care for your pet but education and resources for the parent. Just like it takes a village to raise a child we believe it takes a strong educated and well-connected support system to raise a happy, healthy dog.
We are a crate free environment. We want your furkid to be free to be themselves in our home. There are dog beds/cots, bowls, blankets, and toys throughout the home. Being able to feel at home reduces stress and anxiety which can lead to undesired behaviors.
The dogs are always supervised and they always have opportunities to separate from one another. We are observant of dog triggers so as to minimize incidents.
We encourage human to dog, and dog to dog socialization. Dogs are pack animals and are used to roaming in groups. The connectivity is good for their mind, and body, but just like humans, there are times when each dog would desire time away from the pack and we encourage that as well.
Music, Massages, and reading all have proven to be extremely therapeutic in relaxing dogs. We play jazz and classical music that helps soothe and relax the dog’s brain. While relaxing we take turns offering massages that help to reduce joint pain. We also read books of different varieties to help relax the dogs.
Mental and physical exercise are important. We have a large pawyard where the dogs can run and play. We also have a host of mind stimulating games and puzzles that helps to stimulate thinking. Both of these practices help to reduce stress, anxiety, excessive barking, and undesired behaviors.
We support the parents in providing nutritious meals to their furkid. We do not provide our own food as we know that dogs, like individuals, have their own preferences and may have issues with allergies. Pet parents provide the food and we ensure to feed each dog based upon veterinary recommendations for the size, breed, and age of the pup. We observe the dogs during feeding time as well as their results after toileting and submit daily report cards for each dog.
